Commas

Short story + language tasks

This unit consists of a text about man who organises a 'play station' for his grandson's birthday and worksheets focussed on comma usage. In the first activity students explore using commas to separate items in a list, before moving on to identifying whether a comma is being used to separate the main clause from a phrase or a clause. The third worksheet focuses on using one or two commas to separate off a group of words that is not really essential to the meaning of a sentence while the final exercise requires students to changes the meaning of given sentences by placing commas in different places.
