Investigating simple sentences Cover

Investigating simple sentences

This unit consists of a short text about a girl whose day doesn't go quite as planned, and worksheets focussed on recognising simple sentences. The first worksheet gives students an explanation of simple sentences then an exercise on identifying them in an excerpt from the text. The second worksheet focuses on the difference between a sentence and a phrase; the third on identifying objects within a sentence. Students learn about how a simple sentence can be extended (without becoming a complex sentence), by adding phrases in Worksheet 4.
