Learning activities for reluctant readers

Supporting reading difficulties

The information in this unit is designed to support teachers as they work with students who have difficulties with reading and writing. The suggested strategies are based on the principal that reading and writing go together and that skills in both are improved when links are made during the teaching process. Suggested strategies are based on: letter identification, a shared book sequence, guided reading, follow-up activities such as cloze tasks and word games.
